I had a game design meeting this week for the progress of SKEER. I’m very happy with the progress that Manny and O have made and I think that the game is coming along nicely. I am really enjoying the way everything looks. Manny had to pull an all-nighter to make sure everything was ready but it was worth it.Recently I have been struggling to create assets/think of things for SKEER. I have been in kind of a rut, in terms of creativity, and I honestly can't wait for spring break to happen so I can get some time off and get some time to work on SKEER with Manny. SKEER is a project I really enjoy and I am really grateful that I was permitted to work on this project with one of my best friends. I hope to get SKEER done sooner than the deadline in May but that is over a month away so I am not worried. The last two weeks have been rough. I have been dealing with a ton of work and sports are draining me of my energy. My partner is going through some rough life issues as well. The end of the third quarter is coming up very soon and SKEER is coming along nicely, which is nice. The game is going to turn out well if things keep progressing as they are. Life is making the game progress slow down though and my partner and I have been doing our best to put SKEER before our issues. All in all, the game is going good, we are almost at a point where everything is close to done.In the past quarter, I have been doing a lot of planning for assets. I have been trying to get better at pixel artwork so that my work for SKEER is better overall. I have been working with illusion of depth and with perspective so that I can better work on how to make SKEER look how it is supposed too. I have had some trouble with the use of colors but the issue is getting easier to deal with.Recently I have been listening to a lot of music to try to figure out what components play into the mood of the song. I've been doing this so that I can more effectively create music for SKEER and also because it is so much fun. Sitting down and listening to a song, really listening to it, and hearing all of the tiny parts that congeal and construct a feeling is honestly very enjoyable.Over the second quarter so far, I have been writing more fantasy/fictional stories on my own and I and feel as though it has helped me in a lot of ways. For one, it has helped me concept and make the story for SKEER more interesting/fluid. I have also been practicing pixel art and trying to improve so that the art for SKEER will improve.Over the second quarter so far, I have lost all will to do work in Advanced Studies. I am still getting my work done but at this point I am much more focused on my other classes as this is when the rigor of the school year seems to start. I am worried that I will eventually just stop doing work all together but at the same time I am not sure whether I should try to get my work done faster and then have free time to do my other work or vise versa. I am currently in a low point in terms of work I can do for SKEER and I don't know when I'll be able to do things in large again. Until next time! For a few weeks now I have been working on making music and trying to make "those funky fresh beats" and some of the stuff I've made actually turned out good. It is all instrumental and doesn't have any lyrics. I am hoping that if some of it has the right tone/mood to match SKEER, I can use my music in the game. I am also trying out some new ideas in 3DS Max and so far things aren't going so hot but at least the music is turning out decent! Until next time. Now that it's the end of the first quarter of my senior year, I've come to realize that I'm a lot more stressed than I thought I'd be. The quarter has flown by and aside from sports, my Advanced Studies project is making progress but it feels really slow and is affecting my motivation. I still have a lot of Ideas but the slowness makes it hard for me to do anything that will be worthwhile because I'm stuck waiting for the next phase of my project. Despite this, I've decided to work on the game music because it will keep me busy, it will help the project and it's one less thing to do later. All in all, the first quarter was somewhat had but it was fun. |
