This year i haven't learned a lot in 3D but I have leaner so much about Unity and making games. I am really happy with this because I as never confidant or a fan of my own artwork so I am glad to have a new medium. This new medium is great because I feel as though if I use the asset store or my own work I can give life to ideas and it is an amazing feeling to do so. All in all I've really enjoyed this year in Unity and I'm glad I got the experience. The school year is winding to a close and with this comes exams. Luckily, I'm exempt from the exam but for my classmates who are not, I pray for you. The game design course this year has been really fun and whereas I think it would be fun to take the exam I really don't want too. This is because I'm trying to keep my A in the class. I also don't think I'm ready for the exam whatever it may be.This year's final project is really something to behold. I need to make my own game! I am really exited and I think that it will be fun even though I've only had about two weeks to work on it. My game involves finding chests and well, that's it. It's safe to say I can get it done but I wouldn't be surprised to see it in 2017's E3 highlights. When the topic of switching to UE4 is mentioned, at first, it sounds okay. After looking into the engine I have realized how different it is from Unity. I am very open to switching if that is what the majority of the class moving onto next year wants but I personally don't want to change engines. I am just getting used to Unity and switching makes my feel as if making my game next year will be that much harder. Coding in UE4 is also really "weird" compared to Unity as you have to write everything in Unity but UE4 basically gives you the code. This seems okay to me but I also think It takes away from the experience of making a game. The frustration of making games this year is what makes Unity fun in my opinion. I honestly think that switching is okay and I'm definitely open to it but I don't want to if I have the option not too. |
