So far in game design we have learned many useful tools, as a class. Though there all a vast array of tools and skills I have personally acquired. Firstly, the skills I think will come be the most useful are the ones I have in Photoshop. This is mainly because I don't know if texturing is a thing that the program we will use is a given, so I find it useful to know how to make my own. Secondly, my know-how of how games should work and what types of games are out there from both personal experience and resources in class. Lastly, this skill I haven't picked up from class directly, but I have seen and used the program slightly and partially know how it works, so I think I should be ahead of the learning curve to some degree.Firstly, I believe that certification is important to a degree(I know it was a bad pun) but i think that certification goes best with experience to give you a better opportunity at getting a specific job. Certification to me is a superficial object that is used to open doors and or get you a seat in any bosses office for a job interview. I know that there are some jobs where you are require to have certification to do certain things and or get a promotion, but I have only seen this in the automotive industry because my father works with them. I have also see how much farther experience, skill, and refinement of a certain field will get you than a certificate that gives you credentials for some task. To answer the questions I was asked, I do find the idea of a person having certification going into a field useful; however the certification(as I previously stated) acts more as a door opener in most situations I can ponder. I would get certification right now because thought the work may be intensive, I love a challenge and where it might be a door opener for people, getting one now and at my age would give me years to practice and gain more experience so I could back up my certification with an ironclad base of skill and knowledge on any given subject I decide to go into. |
